Lambda waste check
Lambda Old Runtime
lambda_old_runtime
What it finds
Lambda Old Runtime: one of the Lambda checks in the serverless optimization group. Checks in this group look for: serverless functions, state machines and APIs that are unused, mis-sized, on an old runtime, or configured in a way that bills more than needed.
Why it costs money
Serverless bills per request and per unit of memory and time, so a wrong setting multiplies on every invocation.
How it is detected
Function on deprecated/EOL runtime
Detection confidence: LOW. This is the criterion from our public docs. It runs in a local scan with your own read-only credentials.
AWS's own tools
AWS flags this too, under "AWS Lambda Functions Using Deprecated Runtimes".
Checked against the AWS documentation.
Run it yourself
Nothing leaves your machine. The local scan has no telemetry.
