VPC and load balancing waste check
Low Traffic ALB
low_traffic_alb
What it finds
Low Traffic ALB: one of the VPC and load balancing checks in the network optimization group. Checks in this group look for: network resources that carry no traffic, or sit unattached, duplicated or in front of nothing.
Why it costs money
Gateways, load balancers and addresses bill by the hour once they exist, with or without traffic.
How it is detected
ALB/NLB with <100 requests in 14 days but healthy targets
Detection confidence: MEDIUM. This is the criterion from our public docs. It runs in a local scan with your own read-only credentials.
AWS's own tools
None of Trusted Advisor, Cost Optimization Hub or Compute Optimizer flags this.
Checked against the AWS documentation.
Run it yourself
Nothing leaves your machine. The local scan has no telemetry.
