DynamoDB waste check
Idle DynamoDB
idle_dynamodb
What it finds
Idle DynamoDB: one of the DynamoDB checks in the database optimization group. Checks in this group look for: database capacity that is idle, oversized for its load, kept past its useful life, or priced on a mode that does not fit how it is used.
Why it costs money
Managed databases bill for provisioned instances, storage and backups around the clock, so unused or oversized capacity is a standing cost.
How it is detected
Zero consumed capacity for 14 days, on a table at least 14 days old
Detection confidence: HIGH. This is the criterion from our public docs. It runs in a local scan with your own read-only credentials.
AWS's own tools
AWS flags this too, under "Idle recommendation for DynamoDB provisioned tables".
Checked against the AWS documentation.
Run it yourself
Nothing leaves your machine. The local scan has no telemetry.
